Summit

At the heart of our ministry is the desire to help young people encounter Jesus Christ. Through the beauty of Eucharistic Adoration, prayer and authentic community, we seek to create opportunities for them to deepen their faith and discover the joy of following him.

Inspired by the Church’s teaching that the Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life”, our Summit evenings place Jesus, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, at the centre. By creating space for prayer, reflection and authentic encounter, we hope every young person will grow in faith, deepen their relationship with Christ, and participate more fully in the life of his Church.

What is a Summit?

A Summit is a two-hour evening of fun, friendship, faith formation and Eucharistic Adoration for young people aged 14–17, usually held on a Friday evening.

Each year, Summits are built around a new theme.

A typical Summit is split into two parts:

  • Hour One: Social time, icebreakers and engaging faith formation.
  • Hour Two: Guided Eucharistic Adoration, with the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation where available.

Where possible, we encourage neighbouring parishes to come together at deanery or local level, giving young people the opportunity to meet others who share their faith and build lasting friendships.

What is the theme for 2026?

In 2026, to mark the Jubilee Year of St Francis, the session explores the life of St Francis, what made him such an inspiring saint, and how his example speaks to young people today.

Why host a Summit?

A Summit offers young people the opportunity to:

  • grow in their relationship with Christ through prayer and Adoration;
  • explore the Catholic faith in an engaging and relevant way;
  • meet other young Catholics from across their local area;
  • encounter the Sacrament of Reconciliation where available; and
  • enjoy an evening of fun, friendship and community.

For parishes, a Summit is a simple way to invest in young people, strengthen local youth ministry, and encourage collaboration across neighbouring communities.

What does a parish need to provide?

We aim to make hosting a Summit as straightforward as possible.

The parish simply needs to provide:

  • A suitable space for the first hour (such as a parish hall).
  • Access to the church for Adoration.
  • Refreshments for the young people.
  • Support from local volunteers in line with parish safeguarding procedures.

We’ll work with you beforehand to ensure everything is in place for a successful evening.

Is there a cost for a Summit?

There is no charge for a standard two-hour parish Summit.

We simply ask that the parish provides refreshments for the young people. For deanery-wide Summits, we welcome a small donation to help cover the cost of resources and materials.

How do I book a Summit?

If you would like the Youth Ministry team to lead a Summit in your parish or deanery, we’d love to hear from you.

Please contact youth@rcdow.org.uk to discuss dates and availability.
