All donations go towards supporting youth ministry initiatives, including (but not limited to) retreats at our youth retreat centre, pilgrimages, leadership training, Flame… Thank to your generosity we can support young people at all stages of their faith journey. Westminster Youth Ministry engages young people ranging from primary school children up to young adults aged 35. By supporting us through donating to our mission, you could provide a child a subsidised place on one of our retreats, giving them a life-changing opportunity to have an encounter with Christ. Or you could support a young adult receiving leadership training in our Upper Room programme, equipping and empowering them first to be a chaplain during the diocesan retreat in Lourdes, and then to be a youth leader in one of our diocesan parishes! Alternatively, for the price of a coffee you could provide a student or young adult with a subsidised ticket to one of our fascinating Resonate talks, in which they receive intellectual formation and empowerment in living their faith intentionally in the world.
Testimonials
I think the retreat made me feel closer to God and made me have more faith in the Lord. I especially liked the part in the chapel when Jesus was present in the room. It made me feel very faithful to the Lord.
My spiritual encounter on this retreat has been with the [communion] with people I never expected to speak to or interact with, not just from my year but from my school. I now feel comfortable in building a relationship with God together with them, as I felt alone before.
Back in November, I joined Westminster Diocese’s Upper Room programme, a course focused on developing young Catholic leaders. This course concluded in the Lourdes pilgrimage, serving as a Chaplain to the Red Caps. As this was my first time ever going to Lourdes, initially I was pretty nervous and didn’t want to go.
How wrong I was. Lourdes has not only proved me wrong but made me even more passionate about my faith. I was inspired by how many people were committed to making this pilgrimage, despite every and all circumstances, showing how strong their faith can be. I was also amazed and pleased to see so much growth amongst the Red Caps. Like me, many originally weren’t that bothered, but by the end of the week, after experiencing the beauty that Lourdes had to offer, I can safely say that they all walked away a stronger person than they were before.
Lourdes is a beautiful place, and I believe that everyone should go at least once, whether as a volunteer or a pilgrim, just to experience it all. Thanks be to Our Lord for a smooth pilgrimage, and I’m sure I’ll be be back in the future.
