About the event

Join us on our exciting new series of Resonate in preparation for the Jubilee Year in 2025!

The keynote speaker in this session will be Fr Toby Lees OP, who will deliver the talk and lead us in some Q&A and discussion time. Find out more about Fr Toby at the bottom of this page.

Our Holy Father Pope Francis has expressed that, “In this time of preparation, I would greatly desire that we devote 2024, the year preceding the Jubilee event, to a great “symphony” of prayer.” The theme of the Jubilee Year is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ and so, just as we prepare prayerfully for any pilgrimage, so we will prepare prayerfully to become such pilgrims.

What better way, then, to devote the year to prayer, than to dive into the prayer that God himself taught us through the words of Jesus according to St Matthew (Matthew 6:9-13). Making our way, step by step, through the Lord’s prayer, in this session we arrive at the sixth petition.

Our Father, who art in heaven / Hallowed be thy Name / Thy kingdom come / Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven / Give us this day our daily bread / FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES, AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US

This month, in light of these words we will explore the gift of RECONCILIATION.

The evening will consist of a talk, discussion time, time for prayer and reflection, an opportunity for socialising, and refreshments.

SPEAKER INFORMATION

Fr Toby Lees OP is a Catholic priest and member of the Order of Preachers (known as the Dominicans). He was born in London and studied law at Cambridge University, going on to be a solicitor for seven years with a city law firm. After discerning a call to the priesthood, he specialised in moral theology in Rome, writing his thesis on the passion of sorrow and the vice of acedia in St Thomas Aquinas and what his thought might contribute to a contemporary understanding of depression. His particular academic interest is the crossover between moral theology and psychology. He serves at the Dominican Priory at the Rosary Shrine, Haverstock Hill and is Priest Director of Radio Maria England.
