The theme of the Jubilee Year is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. In each month throughout the year, the Church upholds particular livelihoods and missions through which her children build God’s kingdom here on earth.
This month, the Church celebrates the central role played by pilgrimage in the Christian life. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that, “[Christ’s] public minsitry itself was patterned by his pilgrimages to Jerusalem for the great Jewish feasts,” (CCC 583), and our entire Christian life is also described as a pilgrimage, the destination of which is Heaven.
Here in the diocese we have two great pilgrimages this month, and we’d love for you to get involved!
Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2025
The Cardinal, clergy, and hundreds of Catholics from all over the diocese came together as volunteers and pilgrims for the week-long pilgrimage to Lourdes!
When: 25 July – 1 August 2025
This pilgrimage is now finished, but keep an eye out for the details of next year’s pilgrimage, which will be announced soon!
Jubilee Pilgrimage
We had the great privilege of taking a group of young adults to Rome for the Jubilee of Youth, including a pilgrimage walking in the footsteps of the young saints! Vising the home towns of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, Blessed Carlo Acutis, and Blessed Chiara Badano, our journey culminated in Rome with Pope Francis and youth from all over the world.
