Quick overview
An activity to build communication within a group as they try and create a sculpture only one of them has seen.
Game type
Focuser/Energiser
Time Scale
5-10 mins for one round, an additional 2 minutes for each consecutive round
Supplies you’ll need
Lego or some similar building material e.g. building blocks etc.
Prep
Build a structure out of the Lego and hide it. For lower ability groups, make it simpler and, for higher ability, make it more complex. If you are doing more than one round, build an additional structure for each round.
Leading the Activity
First split your group into teams the size 2-4. Give each group enough Lego to replicate the structure they will be copying.
Next, have a single member of each group come and look at the hidden sculpture for five seconds. Once they have looked, send them back to their groups where they must instruct the rest of the group as to how to build the structure. An important thing to ensure is that the person who has seen the structure is just instructing and not trying to build it themselves.
Depending on how complex the structure is, give the groups between 60 and 90 seconds to build the structure. At the end of the time limit, the structure is revealed and the group which has replicated it the best wins the round.
